An ImageThat I Have of Them
February 4-27, 2005
press release:
Gaston Bachelard wrote: "The house we were born
in is more than an embodiment of home, it is also an
embodiment of dreams. Each one of its nooks and corners
was a resting-place for daydreaming."
Using the home as a starting point, this recent series
of paintings selects snippets of memory of rooms and
objects from my childhood in Leawood, Kansas. Each image
carries with it strong personal associations, the combination
of which feels a bit like a dream - random, but somehow
meaningful.
Joseph Hu's work can also be seen this month in a group
exhibition at Peng Gallery.
